Jane specialises in portraiture and is particularly influenced by her travels around the world. She has always enjoyed the countryside, nature and watching the stormy sea near her home for inspiration.

More recently she has developed an interest in portraits; particularly Eastern and Asian faces, those who are veiled and the issues surrounding them. Jane has traveled extensively and this has influenced much of her work, bringing fresh perspectives to everything she creates.

Some of the most interesting places she has explored include Iran, Pakistan, Nepal and Myanmar, where she has experienced some of the most beautiful scenery and architecture in the world. “Travel has brought a greater appreciation of my surroundings and my freedom”, says Jane.

As her family have grown and become more independent, Jane has been able to pursue her ambition of gaining a Degree in Fine Art which has provided an academic discipline to her work and the chance to explore a huge range of materials and techniques.

Whilst drawing is Jane’s first passion, she also works in acrylic, oils and mixed media, continually experimenting and learning whilst developing ideas. She confesses to becoming totally absorbed in the subject whilst creating her art. Jane says: “I love that every piece of art I work on teaches me something new about myself and the world we live in.”
